A nine-member Board, appointed to two-year terms (no term limit), which meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Conference Room. Meetings are generally held on Tuesday before Planning Board meetings each month @ 7:30 PM; there may be exceptions. The Conservation Board serves in an advisory capacity, primarily providing recommendations to the Planning Board on whether applications will have a significant environmental impact in accordance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). The Board also comments to the Town Board and Zoning Board of Appeals on matters pertaining to environmental issues within the Town.
The Conservation Board does not generate a formal agenda for its meetings; rather it typically reviews for comment the applications before the next Planning Board and those applications before the next Town Board and Zoning Board of Appeals that may be environmentally sensitive. Their meetings are open to the public and are conducted in a more informal manner than the public hearing format of the Town Board, Zoning Board, and Planning Board.
