Solstice Senior Living held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday (August 16) to celebrate the completion of a management change and upgrades to the facility.

Perinton Town Council member Ciaran Hanna, Perinton Town Clerk Jennifer West and New York State Assemblyman Mark Johns were on hand for the celebration.

Solstice houses 117 residents.

Holiday Retirement founded the facility in 1999, but four years ago sold the building to Colonial Northstar. Northstar owns 32 senior living facilities across the country, including one in Buffalo.

Holiday continued to run the facility until Northstar teamed with Integral Senior Living in November to form Solstice and take over management.

“They have done great things with the facility,” said Solstice Director of Sales & Marketing Thomas Cappon, who has worked at the facility for seven years. “The upgrades have helped a lot and all of the former employees are still working here for the transition, which has been easy.”

One of the upgrades is a hair salon, which offers full makeovers. This allowed five-year resident BJ Ecker to cross that off her bucket list. She was able to get a full makeover in time for her granddaughter Amanda Jay Mance’s wedding July 30.

"My family didn’t even know me,” the Fairport native said. “I have always dreamed of having a complete makeover and it was wonderful.”
