Spring 2025 Update from Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna

March 21, 2025

Happy Spring, everyone!

It was an old-fashioned snowy winter here in Perinton, with plenty of snow, ice, sleet, and freezing rain. Our Perinton Public Works crews worked tirelessly through it all to keep our roads safe. A big thank you to our hardworking staff for their dedication throughout the season!

We’d also like to give a special shoutout to our Parks Department for keeping our sidewalks and park facilities clear of snow, ensuring safe access for residents all winter long.

As we transition into the spring season, our focus shifts to investing in infrastructure – an essential part of ensuring Perinton remains a great place to live and work. Our crews will begin road, sidewalk, sewer, and drainage maintenance and continue with our yard debris collection program. These improvements help maintain the safety, accessibility, and livability of our town.

We’re also excited to announce the return of two beloved community events: Perinton Community Recycling Day on May 17, and our Free Rabies Immunization Clinic on June 7. These events offer wonderful opportunities to engage with and support our community. Check out the brochure pages for more information.

This year, we also mark the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal, with its opening on May 16. Whether you’re boating, kayaking, or just enjoying the views, the Erie Canal remains an iconic part of our community and a place for exploration and connection. This special milestone offers a chance to celebrate the rich history of this waterway that has shaped our communities for two centuries.

Looking ahead, we’re responsibly planning for the future of our town. One exciting project is the new playground at Center Park West, designed to provide accessible fun for all children. This is just one of several upcoming improvements aimed at enhancing Perinton’s public spaces and recreational opportunities. With ongoing sidewalk upgrades and facility improvements, we remain committed to ensuring our community is safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

I would also like to take a moment to recognize the dedicated volunteers who serve on Perinton’s many boards and commissions, from the Planning, Conservation, and Zoning Boards to the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board, Historic Architecture Commission, and Sustainability Advisory Board. These individuals selflessly lend their time and expertise, and I’m incredibly proud of the work they do to improve our town. Perinton’s volunteer boards are among the best, and their efforts help make our community an even better place to call home.

Finally, keeping Perinton among the lowest tax rates while delivering an exceptional quality of life remains my top priority. Through careful planning and smart investments in infrastructure and services, we continue to ensure that Perinton remains a vibrant, sustainable community where families and residents can thrive. Supporting all families and seniors in Perinton – and ensuring everyone has access to the programs and services they need – is at the core of what we do.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can reach me at (585) 223-0770 or channa@perinton.org. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Ciaran Hanna
