Erie Canal Bicentennial Celebration Information – Saturday, September 17th!

Join us this Saturday to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Erie Canal in Fairport & Perinton! The party begins in Perinton Park at 5PM with live music, food trucks, children’s activities, and historical displays. Our Bicentennial Flotilla will float by the park around 7:15 PM.

Bring a chair and enjoy some great music along the Canal:

  • A Taste of Jazz (5-6PM)
  • Jimmy Jam Band featuring Dave Tiberio (6:15-7:15PM)

Perinton Recreation Department will offer non-stop fun for the kids:

  • Gaga ball
  • Face painting
  • A boat craft
  • Basketball
  • Lawn games
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Photo back drop
  • Glow-sticks

Town Historian Bill Poray will have historical displays and offer presentations on the history of the Canal, Perinton Park, and the 1962 Flotilla.

Parking is available at the lower lot of Perinton Park and Qualitrol (across the street). We hope to see you there!

Flotilla Details:

Our Bicentennial Flotilla will be led by the Colonial Belle and joined by local boats of all sizes. Join us in Perinton Park to hear the boats announced, or view the boat parade along the Canal Path.

The boats will depart near Parker Street Bridge, go under the Fairport Lift Bridge, and head West toward Perinton Park. The parade will turn around at the Oxbow and take the same 2-mile route back.
