Perinton DPW Aids in Buffalo Blizzard Response

January 5, 2023

When the disastrous Christmas weekend storm dumped more than 4 feet of snow on Buffalo, Perinton Public Works joined crews across the County to help. Six members of the Town of Perinton Department of Public Works traveled to the City of Good Neighbors and worked around the clock to clear roads.

Eric Lancaster, Sam Pittinaro and Mike Marcucci worked the day shift and Rob Newcombe, Dylan Leckinger and Dan Gekoski worked the overnight shift. Highway Supervisor Leo Pipech also made the trip West to help with setup at Buffalo State.

“Our crew stepped up right away and volunteered to help our neighbors clear record amounts of snow,” said Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna, who along with Town Board, voted to authorize the use of equipment and manpower. “They are driving back and forth from 12-hour shifts – working hard to clear the streets to allow access for utility restoration and emergency services.  Their dedication is commendable and I am very proud of how they are representing our town.”

Perinton Deputy Commisioner DPW – Highways, David Van Thof, and Assistant DPW Commissioner, Eric Williams, played a vital role in coordinating the response with the Town Supervisor, Town Board, and Monroe County team.

Perinton worked alongside public works crews from Gates, Ogden, Rochester, Chili, Webster, Brighton and Monroe County after Erie County and the New York State Department of Transportation reached out for help.

As always, thank you to our Perinton DPW for all you do. A special thank you to the volunteers who helped Buffalo in its time of need!
