Town of Perinton Launches Online Building Permit System

March 26, 2025

New Platform Makes It Easier Than Ever to Apply for Permits and Track Projects

Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna announced today that the Town of Perinton has launched a new online permitting portal, streamlining the process for residents to obtain building permits from the Building & Codes Department. As spring arrives and homeowners and contractors gear up for improvement projects, they can now apply for and manage their permits entirely online.

This new system is all about convenience,” said Hanna. “Whether you’re building a deck, installing a shed, or tackling a larger renovation, our new online permitting portal allows you to manage the entire permitting process from home, 24/7, without having to make a trip to Town Hall. This launch reflects our ongoing efforts to improve services, enhance efficiency, and provide a more accessible experience for all who interact with the Town of Perinton.”

With Perinton’s online permitting portal, residents can now:

  • Apply for all types of building permits
  • Submit changes or corrections
  • Review inspector notes
  • Pay for and receive approved permits
  • Request inspections
  • Track permit progress in real time
  • Receive final completion certificates

In addition to homeowner services, contractors can now register with the Town of Perinton at no cost through the portal. The platform allows them to:

  • Upload insurance forms
  • Receive automatic reminders when insurance renewals are due
  • Update contact information
  • Manage all active permits in one place
  • Allow customers to add them to their permits

Spring Is the Perfect Time to Start Your Project

With the arrival of warmer weather, many homeowners are eager to enhance their outdoor spaces. The Perinton Building & Codes Department reminds residents that permits are required for common projects such as:

  • Decks – Permits required for all decks attached to a house or elevated off the ground.
  • Sheds – All sheds require a permit, and size/location regulations apply.
  • Fences – A permit is needed for any permanent fence installation.

These permits can now be easily completed online. For complete details on building requirements and project guidelines, visit the Building & Codes Department webpage.

“Spring is one of the busiest times for our Building & Codes Department, so we encourage residents and contractors to get their permit applications in early and take advantage of the convenience this system offers,” continued Hanna.

The Building & Codes Department is available to assist residents throughout the permitting process, and staff can provide a brief in-office tutorial on how to use the new online permitting portal.
