A Statement from Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna:

“One year ago today, our hearts were filled with profound sorrow as we mourned the tragic loss of RPD Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz. Today, we pause to remember him and extend our heartfelt condolences to the Mazurkiewicz family, who are an integral part of our Town family. Our thoughts are with them, the Rochester Police Department, and the entire law enforcement community on this solemn anniversary.

“Over the past year, our community has come together in a remarkable display of solidarity, respect, and support for Tony and his family. Our residents and neighbors have shown up in countless ways, offering solace, strength, and gratitude to his loved ones and colleagues.

“The void left by Tony’s absence is immeasurable. His unwavering sense of duty and dedication to protecting our community is deeply woven into the very essence of who we are. We will continue to carry his memory in our hearts.

“As we reflect, let us keep Tony’s family, friends, fellow RPD officers, and all law enforcement in our thoughts and prayers. The Mazurkiewicz family carries the weight of immeasurable grief, and we will continue in our promise to offer them solace and support.

“Tony’s legacy will endure, as we are resolute in ensuring that his memory will live on for generations to come. To honor his selflessness and service, the Town is in the process of establishing a permanent memorial in his honor.

“Let us draw strength from the love and resilience that defines our town, as we continue to honor Tony’s memory by standing together, united in our support for his family, our law enforcement community, and each other.”
