Reed tapped to succeed long-time Town Clerk Jennifer West
Town Supervisor Ciaran Hanna will advance the appointment of Janelle Reed as Perinton Town Clerk. Current Town Clerk Jennifer West recently announced her retirement, which will be effective April 29, 2022. Reed currently serves as Recreation Supervisor in the Perinton Recreation and Parks Department, a position she has held for ten years.
“With more than ten years of experience in program operations and management for the Town of Perinton, I am delighted to advance Janelle Reed as our Town Clerk,” said Hanna. “Janelle’s experience, customer service skills, organizational abilities, and detail-oriented nature make her highly qualified for this position. I trust her to uphold both the integrity and professionalism of the Town Clerk’s office to its highest standard.”
Reed first joined the Town of Perinton in 2001, and was promoted to Recreation Supervisor in 2002, a position she held until 2008. After taking time to raise her young family, Reed returned to the Town to serve as Recreation Supervisor in 2018. She holds the responsibility for supervising staff, planning and implementing special events, overseeing recreation programs such as summer camps and soccer leagues, and organizing community events such as the Summer Gazebo Concert Series. She received a B.S. from the State University of New York College at Brockport. Reed lives on Country Downs Circle in the Town of Perinton with her husband, Brian, and they have three children, Sidney, Kendall and Tyler.
“I look forward to serving Town of Perinton residents as Town Clerk,” said Reed. “I believe my experience gives me the skills and institutional knowledge to maintain continuity in an office that is so vital to Perinton residents.”
Reed is tapped to replace retiring Town Clerk Jennifer West. West has been Perinton’s Town Clerk for 13 years.
“It has been the honor of my professional life to serve the Town of Perinton residents as Town Clerk for the past thirteen years,” said West. “I am thrilled to pass the baton to Janelle Reed, who has the experience and qualifications needed to serve as Town Clerk. Our current Town Clerk’s Office staff is experienced, responsible and dedicated. I am confident that they will assist her in order to guarantee a smooth transition and continue to provide the excellent and professional services our residents deserve and have come to expect.”
The Town Clerk’s Office provides services for all members of the community; issuing E-ZPass On-the-Go tags, marriage licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, landfill permits, accessibility parking permits, peddlers’ permits, processing passport applications and collecting Town and School taxes.
Reed’s appointment is subject to confirmation of the Town Board. An election for the office of Perinton Town Clerk will be held in November.
