Winter 23-24: Snow & Ice Operations

December 6, 2023

Navigate winter’s chill with skill! ❄️ Whether it’s snow, sleet, or ice, road conditions can get tricky. Here are some crucial winter driving tips to ensure a safe journey:

⬇️ Slow Down: Winter weather means slippery roads. Take it easy and reduce your speed. It’s harder to control or stop your vehicle on a slick or snow-covered surface.

↔️ Increase Following Distance: Give yourself plenty of room to stop. Roads can be unpredictable, and you’ll need that extra space in case of sudden stops.

🚗 Don’t Crowd the Plow: Our Public Works crews are on the move, maintaining 22 plow routes covering nearly 460 miles of Town, County, and State roads. In order for them to do their job safely, they need space to work. Please don’t crowd the plow, and never try to pass one on the road.

The snowy season has arrived, and our DPW crews stand ready to tackle the challenges this weather brings. 🌨️ They work diligently to maintain our roads, so let’s all play our part in keeping everyone safe this winter! Learn more about our snow and ice operations here.
